Apply Now!

To apply for financial aid, follow these steps:

Step 1: Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You must complete this form to apply for both federal and state grants. You may complete the form online at the above link. List the LFCC school code (008659) on the FAFSA to ensure LFCC receives your results. You (and your parent, if applicable) should also assign yourself a pin number from the Department of Education. The pin number serves as your electronic signature and may be requested at the Federal Student Aid PIN Website.

A great resource for completing each question on the FAFSA is available at http://www.FederalStudentAid.ed.gov/completefafsa

Step 2: Apply for admission to LFCC.

You must ensure that you are enrolled in an eligible curriculum to receive financial aid. Eligible academic curriculums are degree and certificate programs that have been approved by the Department of Education.

The Financial Aid Office will review your Student Aid Report (SAR) and let you know if you are eligible for financial aid. Your SAR may be selected for verification. If so, the LFCC Financial Aid Office will contact you via your LFCC student e-mail account to ask for additional documents. To continue to receive these notifications via postal mail, please contact the Financial Aid Office with this request by e-mail at .

Reviewing your Financial Aid Awards

To review your financial aid awards online, log on to your My LFCC account and follow the instructions below:

  1. Click on VCCS SIS89: Student Information System
  2. Click on Student Center
  3. Click on View Financial Aid
  4. Select the appropriate aid year. For example 2010 represents the 2009-2010 award year.

Your awards for the academic year should now appear. Notice that your awards for each term are provided.

The award information provided for the fall and spring semesters is a projection based upon the student enrolling full-time (at least 12 credit hours) for that term. If you are planning to enroll on a less than full-time basis, you may want to use the following formula to determine an estimate of your Pell grant awards for the semester. Please note that this formula is not exact in all cases but should give you a good idea of your prorated awards. You may also want to review your Financial Aid Award Notification e-mail for more information. For all other award types or if you have an EFC above 3900, please contact the Financial Aid Office.

  • If you enroll for 9-11 credit hours (considered  three-quarter time) you would normally take 75 percent of the full-time Pell award listed.
  • If you enroll for 6-8 credit hours (considered half- time) you would normally take 50 percent of the full-time Pell award posted.
  • If you enroll for 1-5 credit hours (considered less than half- time), you would normally take 25 percent of the full-time Pell award posted.*

* If you are in this category, please contact the Financial Aid Office to determine if you qualify for any assistance as most financial aid programs require students to be enrolled for a minimum of 6 credits to qualify.
