James T. Shannon, Adjunct Instructor in Information Technology
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Bucknell University
- Master's Degree with concentrations in Information Technology Systems and Program Management, The American University
- Degrees from the US Army Command and General Staff College and the Defense Systems Management College
Background and Experience
Mr. Shannon has spent most of his adult life working in computers and communications. He was an officer in the US Army for 20 years working in the fields of communications, computers, and radar. For the next 17 years, he held various positions in computer systems engineering, business development, and management in the Aerospace industry. He served as a Director of Information Technology Systems Business Development and as President/CEO of an Aerospace foreign subsidiary. Throughout his career, he has been responsible for researching, engineering, compiling and presenting information for numerous information technology systems projects ranging in dollar value from the tens of thousands to the tens of millions.
LFCC Teaching
Mr. Shannon has taught various Information Technology courses as an Adjunct Instructor at LFCC. He presently teaches courses in:
- Introduction to Computer Applications and Concepts (ITE 115)
- Web Page Design I and II (ITD 110 & 210)
- Web Page Graphics (ITD 112)
Certifications and Professional Affiliations
Mr. Shannon is CIW (Certified Internet Webmaster) certified and has previously been certified as a CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Instructor (CCNI).
Personal Interests
Mr. Shannon's leisure activities are gardening and carving antique reproduction furniture. On the right is one of the cradles he created for his grandchildren and in the background is an antique reproduction mahogany tilt top table with extensive carving he designed and built.
