LFCC to Present Global Awareness Day Activities

MIDDLETOWN, Va. – Lord Fairfax Community College (LFCC) is hosting a Global Awareness Day event, which is sponsored by the following LFCC committees and student organizations: Administrative Support Technology Program students, the International Association of Administrative Professionals Student Club, the International Education Committee and the Project International Education Student Organization.

Who: The event is free and open to the public.

When: The event will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: The event will take place in the William H. McCoy Special Events Center, located inside the Alson H. Smith Jr. Technology Center on the Middletown Campus, located at 173 Skirmisher Lane in Middletown.

What: Global Awareness Day seeks to educate attendees about the people, history and culture of our world. Activities for the day will include cultural tables featuring countries and regions from around the world, special speakers, lively entertainment, international foods to sample and much more. Following is a detailed schedule of events for the day:

  • 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. – International Cultural Tables
  • 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. – International Students and International Association of Administrative Professionals and Project International Education (IAAP/PIE) Welcome
  • 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. – The Global Energy Challenge
  • 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. – History of Fencing
  • 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. – International Cultural Tables  and Entertainment
  • 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. – My Three Years in Tonga
  • 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. – International Student Panel: Our World
  • 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. – International Students and IAAP/PIE Farewell
