PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT MEETING
October 14, 2004
The Professional Development Committee met on Thursday, October 14th at 12:30 p.m. in room 135A of the Middletown Campus. We attempted to connect to the Fauquier campus via the VCON unit, but no one on the Fauquier campus was able to be present.
Members Present: Anne Legge, Janet Heishman, Wayne Carbaugh, Carolyn Haines, Gary Tusing, Ramon Selove, and Joyce Earhart.
The committee began by reviewing two requests for tuition. These requests were not eligible for Education Assistance so they were forwarded to the Professional Development committee for review. After some discussion, these two items were voted on and recommended for approval.
Thirteen requests for Non-Tuition subsidies were reviewed and recommended for approval. Also, expenses had exceeded the approved amount for six previous requests. These were reviewed as a group and recommended for approval.
The committee also reviewed changes to the Professional Development Policy. Anne Legge will make the changes and forward the policy to Kay Dunkley, Karen Foreman, Margaret Barnett, and Dr. Sygielski.
Suggestions for Professional Development programs were discussed. They included asking Elaine Cassel to present her program on the legal aspects of the internet to the faculty and having brown bag sessions with programs of interest to the faculty. We will survey the Classified Staff to determine what programs they need or would like to have.
The next meeting will be held on November 11th, and December’s meeting will be held on December 9th.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
