Interlibrary Loan Request Form
Book or Photocopy of Article
You must have a library card and be in good standing on your library account to use this service. Before requesting an item through interlibrary loan (ILL), check Lord Fairfax Community College's catalog to make sure we don't already own it.
We do not charge for interlibrary service. However, if we need to go out of state to obtain the item you request, the lending library may have a charge. This can range from $10 to $25.
Interlibrary loans can take a few days to a few weeks to arrive. We will contact you when the item has arrived, if we have any questions about your request, or if we find there will be a charge.
Submitting a Request
By submitting this request, I understand that I am responsible for any item requested through interlibrary loan and I agree to the following conditions:
An ILL is due by the date on the outside of the book or a call must be made at least a week in advance of the due date to request a renewal (not all institutions will allow a renewal). If the ILL is not returned by the due date, an overdue fee of $5 will be posted to the borrower's library account, even if the ILL is returned. If an ILL item is lost or damaged, the borrower is also responsible for whatever amount the lending institution charges for replacement in addition to the $5 overdue fee.
Warning concerning copyright restrictions: The Copyright Law of the US Title 17 US Code governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship or research." If a user makes a request for or later uses a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement. The fair use doctrine takes into account the purpose of copying and the amount and extent copied. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of the copyright law.
