Training

OIT works to facilitate active learning and collaboration through computer training. OIT offers LFCC Faculty instructor-led training and one-on-one consultations by appointment.

 

Web and Email Support

OIT, along with the VCCS, provides LFCC users with technology support via Email as well as online help documentation.

 

Faculty On-Line Workshops

OIT Distance Education offers Faculty Online Workshops for faculty members who are developing online course or courses with significant asynchronous components. In addition, parallel to the workshop, OIT provides support for the development and delivery of the courses developed. 

 

Distance and Hybrid Learning Technology Standards

Technology Services and OIT have worked jointly to establish technology standards for distance and hybrid learning courses. The items on this list are recommended for use by LFCC faculty and their students in support of all distance and hybrid courses starting May 2006.

 

Teaching and Learning with Technology Resources (Committee)

The Teaching and Learning with Technology Resources Committee (TLTR) acts in an advisory capacity for the College.  TLTR works to determine the technology and content needs of the campus as related to distance education and hybrid (distributed) learning, best methods for sharing resources among groups and to eliminate duplication.  TLTR also looks specifically at pedagogical issues, access, facilitation and support, available hardware/software and compatibility issues related to equipment.

Register for Courses

The admissions and records office assists students with registering for distance learning courses.

To register for web based courses you MUST submit an application for admission and in-state tuition rate or, have been previously enrolled in a credit course during the past three years (contact the Admissions and Records Office [A&R] if you have any questions). Courses are available on a first come first served, space available basis and pre-requisites must be met.
