Campus Safety

Your student's safety is not only of the utmost importance to you as a parent/supporter but to Lord Fairfax Community College as well.  LFCC takes pride in the different ways we protect our students.  Here are links to more information on how we keep our student body safe:

Campus Police and Security – LFCC always has a police officer or security officer on duty.

Alerts and Closing Announcements – Sign up to receive alerts of closings and emergencies.

To receive emergency closing information by text or e-mail, please sign up for LFCC Alert. You may also call 540-351-1565 (Fauquier Campus) or 540-868-7230 (Middletown Campus) to hear a recorded announcement.

See Something, Say Something – An online report form that was developed to assist in the emotional and physical well-being of our students by enabling anyone who may have a concern about something they have observed or heard that may impact the safety of our environment or that may disrupt the delivery of our educational process.

College Policies – An overview of the LFCC policies and the Student Code of Conduct, which includes the bill of rights, policies on alcohol and  weapons,  and more.

Threat Assessment Management (TAM) – LFCC maintains a TAM team that meets weekly. If you have safety concerns, please contact a campus administrator or Campus Police and Security immediately.

Annual Security Report and Crime Statistics – The College is required by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Crime Statistics Act to disclose a college safety report which includes statistics concerning crimes on College property, institutional policies on campus security, alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault and other matters annually.

Personal Safety Concerns

If you have questions about your student's personal changes and safety, the following suggestions may help.

  • Keep the lines of communication with your student open
  • Know college resources- counseling & advising center, learning resources, disability services, career resources, financial aid and campus police
  • Things to look for in your student:
    • Change in "normal" behaviors (some change can be expected)
    • Eating and sleeping disruptions (some change can be expected)
    • Withdrawing from family and friends
    • Not attending classes

LFCC provides a positive, caring and dynamic learning environment that
inspires student success, values diversity and promotes community vitality.
