Lord Fairfax Community College is proud to serve veterans and their families, and works to go above and beyond to ensure that their academic needs are met. Veterans seeking to apply to LFCC should follow all the steps outlined on the New Student Checklist, and should also apply for their benefits through the Dept. of Veterans Affairs. The menu on the left details the various programs the VA offers and how to apply. These programs include:
Chp. 33: Post 9/11 GI Bill
Chp 30: Montgomery GI Bill
Chp. 1607: Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP)
Chp. 1606: Selected Reserve
Chp. 35: Dependents’ Educational Assistance
For more information on these programs please visit the Dept. of Veterans Affairs GI Bill website.
For those veterans changing their program of transferring their GI benefits to LFCC, please see the Changing School or Program tab in the menu to the left.
As a reminder, the VA does not pay the difference between in-state tuition and out-of-state tuition. If you are an out-of-state student using VA benefits consider applying for Financial Aid to cover this difference.
Also, any student using VA benefits should be aware of important dates (last day to add and drop a course, last day to withdraw from a course, holidays, etc.). These dates can be found in the course schedule and on the LFCC website.
In order to be certified at LFCC, you should give the certifying official a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility, and complete a Veteran Certification Request every time you add or drop courses. This form should be submitted to the certifying official. The certifying official for LFCC is Kelsey Whitacre.
