Lord Fairfax Community College is proud to serve veterans and their families, and works to go above and beyond to ensure that their academic needs are met. Veterans seeking to apply to LFCC should follow all the steps outlined on the New Student Checklist, and should also apply for their benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Programs offered by the VA include:

For more information on these programs please visit the Dept. of Veterans Affairs GI Bill website.

For those veterans changing their program of transferring their GI benefits to LFCC, please see Changing School or Program.

In order to be certified at LFCC for your VA education benefits, you must give the certifying official a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility, and complete a Veteran Certification Request every time you add or drop courses.  This form should be submitted to the certifying official in the office of Admissions and Records.  The certifying official for LFCC is Andrea Lo.

Important information for veterans:

  • The VA does not pay the difference between in-state tuition and out-of-state tuition. If you are classified as an out-of-state student at LFCC, you are encouraged to complete the FAFSA to apply for funds from the US Department of Education. (Please note that you may not be required to include certain types of military pay, such as Combat Pay, BAH, and educational benefits, on the FAFSA. For more information visit the Federal Student Aid Handbook.)
  • You may be eligible for college credit for the training and education you received during your service. Please have your official military transcript submitted to LFCC Admissions.
  • Military students at LFCC who are mobilized or ordered to active duty during the semester may be eligible for tuition and textbook refunds. Read more.
  • Any student using VA benefits should be aware of important dates (last day to add and drop a course, last day to withdraw from a course, holidays, etc.). These dates can be found in the course schedule and on the LFCC website by viewing the appropriate Academic Calendar.
