LFCC Student 2 Student Peer Mentor Position Description

Qualifications to become a Peer Mentor: 

  • Currently have a 3.0 G.P.A. or higher
  • Have completed at least 12 credits at LFCC
  • Be curricularly placed in an LFCC degree or certificate program
  • Have two recommendations from LFCC faculty or staff
  • Have no previous judicial or honor code violation
  • Have a positive attitude
  • Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be committed to helping others

Responsibilities of Peer Mentors: 

  • Participate in summer training sessions
  • Carry a set mentee load throughout the academic year
  • Serve as first point of contact for mentees for various questions/concerns
  • Assist mentees in getting connected socially at LFCC
  • Keep in constant contact with mentees, answering questions and providing advice
  • Share a "current student's view" on issues a mentee may be facing
  • Staff "Peer Mentor Office Hours" at least one hour per week
  • Uphold a positive moral character, reflective of the LFCC mission and values. Adhere to LFCC student code of conduct.
