Virginia Department of Veteran Services
Did you know that not only the Federal government, but also state governments, offer benefits to veterans?
The state of Virginia offers benefits through the Virginia Department of Veteran Services. In order to be eligible for these benefits, veterans must:
- Have an other than dishonorable discharge
- Have been/be an active military member – meaning full-time service as a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or as a commissioned officer of the public health service, the Environmental Services Administration, or the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
- Current and former members of the Selected Reserve may be eligible for certain benefits if they meet time in-service and other criteria
