Student ID Terms and Conditions

Your student ID card is your official Lord Fairfax Community College identification and is required for ALL credit students.  ID cards are not transferable (to another person) and must be returned upon request.  If a card is replaced, previously issued cards are rendered invalid and cannot be "revalidated".  Student activity fees cover your first card issued: there is a $20.00 charge for replacement cards.

The owner and/or the holder of an ID card may be subject up to a $50 fine and/or disciplinary action for:

  1. Lending a student ID card to anyone
  2. Failing to present a student ID card when it is requested by a college official
  3. Possessing more than one student ID
  4. Attempting to use a card that has been reported lost or stolen

LOST OR STOLEN CARDS:

Lost or stolen cards should be reported to the Student Activities Office promptly.  If you find a card that has been previously reported lost or stolen, turn it in to the Student Activities Office or destroy it immediately; any attempt to use such a card may subject the user to disciplinary action.

LORD FAIRFAX STUDENT IDENTIFICATION CARDS:

Student Identification Cards (hereafter referred to as IDs) exist as LFCC property.  IDs are intended for the sole and exclusive use of the student to whom the ID is issued for purposes of identification as a member of the College community and qualification for College services, i.e., use of computer labs and student activities.  Because misuse of IDs may have a negative impact on both students and the institution in general, students are expected to abide by the following guidelines:

POSSESSION:

A student should have only one valid ID card in her/his possession, and it should be the one most recently issued to her/him by appropriate LFCC staff.

REPLACEMENT IDs:

A student should apply for a new ID card at the Student Activities office when her/his former ID is:

  1. Stolen (and a theft report has been filed with the college); or
  2. Damaged and unusable (as confirmed by staff in the Student

Activities Office

Applying for or acquiring a new ID while possession of a usable ID is in violation of this policy.  After a new ID is issued, if the lost or stolen ID is found or returned, students must immediately forward the card to the Student Success Office or the Student Activities Office.  The previous ID card cannot be reactivated at any time.  Attempts to use an invalid ID card may result in confiscation and possible disciplinary action.

REVOCATION

College staff may revoke ID cards in the following situations:

  1. When there is an indication that an ID card is invalid.  This ID will be forwarded to the Student Activities Office and not returned to the student.
  2. At any event or location, when a student presents an ID, which does not match her/his appearance, and cannot produce another form of picture identification to confirm her/his identity.  Student disciplinary action may also be initiated in this situation.

For further information about the possession, use, revocation, or replacement of IDs, contact the Student Activities Office.
