2010 Commencement Information Sheet
Academic Apparel
All graduates must wear standard academic apparel as designated by the American Council of Education. Academic apparel consists of a cap, gown and tassel. The following attire should be worn with academic apparel:
Suggested Attire for Men: Dress trousers and shirts, tie is optional; dress shoes and socks; no sandals.
Suggested Attire for Women: Business casual dress or slacks, cool fabric; low heel or flat shoes; no corsages or jewelry on the gown
Academic apparel may be purchased from the LFCC bookstores.
The cost for a cap and gown is (approximately) $35. Students wishing to purchase additional tassels may do so at $5 each. Payment must be made at time of purchase. Please note that you must purchase your academic apparel prior to the day of graduation. The bookstores are closed at the time of graduation.
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) members are recognized at Commencement by wearing a gold tassel and monogrammed stole. This additional academic apparel must be ordered separately. PTK members can place orders through the Recognitions catalog or go to www.ptk.org to the online Recognitions store. If you have further questions, please contact your respective club advisor.
Commencement Day Arrival
While there will be no rehearsal for your Commencement ceremony, we ask that you arrive at 2:30 p.m. so we can provide you with important instructions for your Commencement celebration. When you arrive, you will be provided a card with your name, degree or certificate and general information. Please report to the following locations at the designated times:
All Graduates
Report to the main entrance of Skyline High School by 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2009
Parking will be limited. More information about satellite parking will be available closer to the date of the ceremony. We encourage guests with mobility or health issues to come early. If guests require a wheelchair or other specialized equipment, please have them bring it with them.
Photographs
A photographer from Chappell Studios will be taking pictures of all graduates receiving their diplomas from the President. The company will contact you directly regarding proof review and ordering.
Reception
A reception for graduates and guests will be held following the program. You, your family and your friends are encouraged to attend.
Diplomas
During Commencement, graduates will receive their diploma cover. The Admissions and Records Office will notify you when diplomas can be picked up.
