Provided through an agreement with Piedmont Virginia Community College, which confers the degree, the Surgical Technology Program prepares graduates to work in operating rooms in hospitals and outpatient surgical centers. Admission to the program is limited and competitive and is based in part on standardized entrance test results. Priority enrollment is given to residents of the LFCC service region. Students participate in classroom instruction using distance education technology. The program is accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee—Surgical Technology, qualifying candidates to sit for the national professional certification examination.
