Computer Lab Rules

Tell us how we're doing
  1. Be considerate of other people. Keeping noise to a minimum and placing debris in the proper containers will be helpful.
  2. Consumption of food or beverages into the computer classroom is prohibited. (See page 24 of College Catalog).
  3. The Internet is NOT to be used for the downloading and installation of applications unless authorized by faculty or Computer Services Personnel.
    1. When using the College's equipment to access the Internet, remember that you are acting as an ambassador for the college and you are not to use the VCCS network or e-mail in ways that reflect poorly on LFCC or violate college policies or state or federal laws.
    2. The accessing of pornographic material and playing of games is specifically forbidden by state policy.
    3. Students performing research on the Internet shall have priority over those who are "surfing the web" for recreation.
    4. You are requested to read and agree to the terms set out by the VCCS at these World Wide Web sites:

      VCCS Information Security Policy

VCCS Computer and Internet Use Policy

Student/Patron Ethics Agreement (See page 52 of Student Handbook)

  4. Do not attempt repairs or adjustments on the equipment yourself.
  5. Do not change any of the software or hardware configurations under ANY circumstances. If you have a problem, contact the Lab Assistant or put a sign on the monitor indicating that it is malfunctioning.
  6. Copying software is prohibited. It is against the law. (The Virginia Crimes Act, Virginia - Title 8.01 Chapter 3, Federal - Computer Fraud & Abuse Act of 1986)

If you have any questions, or need anything, do not hesitate to ask the Lab Assistant or Staff for help.
