Drills

Lord Fairfax Community College performs periodic drills in order to ensure the safety of its staff and students in the event of a real emergency. There are two general types of emergencies: emergencies requiring evacuation (ex. Fire), and emergencies requiring retreat to a safe haven (ex. Tornado). It is important to take all evacuations/safe haven retreats seriously, even if it is only a drill. Drills give the College an opportunity to assess procedures and make any necessary improvements.

Evacuation Procedures

In the event of an emergency that requires an evacuation, members of the Emergency Response Team have been pre-assigned various locations throughout the College to evacuate.

Evacuation assembly areas are designated as being 100 feet from the main building in either the front or back of the College grounds. Remain at the designated assembly area until an all-clear signal has been given by an administrator.

Safe Haven Procedures

In the event of an emergency that requires retreating to a safe haven, members of the Emergency Response Team have been pre-assigned various locations throughout the College to relocate students, faculty, staff, and visitors to a safe haven.

Remember to stay away from windows, doors, and areas that are considered unsafe.
