Introduction

We are proud to present you with Lord Fairfax Community College's (LFCC) 2007-08 annual report. LFCC has always been known for excellence and opportunity in higher education, and the 2007-08 academic year exemplified LFCC's core values of learning, high performance, integrity, positive spirit and diversity.

LFCC's achievements are a direct result of the commitment of LFCC's dedicated employees, outstanding student body and valuable community members and volunteers who are willing to invest in the success of the community's future leaders. We invite you to review this annual report to learn more about the many achievements we are so very proud of and to re-affirm the value of your investment in the College.

The past year was also one of change at LFCC. In June 2008, our president, Dr. John J. "Ski" Sygielski, departed from LFCC to serve as president of Mt. Hood Community College in Oregon. We are very excited about the recent hiring of Dr. Cheryl Thompson-Stacy as LFCC's next president. Dr. Thompson-Stacy, who has served as president of Eastern Shore Community College since 2006, will begin at LFCC in January 2009. We look forward to benefiting from the fresh ideas and approaches she will bring to the College.

LFCC has been positively changing the lives of its students since 1970, empowering them to pursue their goals and dreams. With the overwhelming support of our College community, we will continue this path of excellence in 2008-09 and the years to come.
