Emily Bouchard

Emily Bouchard was the recipient of the 2013 Outstanding Graduate Award at LFCC's Fauquier Campus.

In 1994, Emily started with LFCC, taking one class at a time, with an interest in accounting. Being a single mom and employed full-time, this was the best schedule for her. She stopped taking classes when she lost her mother to breast cancer. After a long sabbatical, Emily decided to come back to LFCC in a full-time capacity. Instead of accounting, she explored the sciences, more interested in the field of genetics due to her mother's illness.

After two years of hard work, Emily graduated with an Associate in Arts and Sciences. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with membership in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. In the fall of 2013, she will attend UVA, working on a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry with a specialization in Biochemistry.

Emily professes, "I couldn't have done it without the help of my supportive husband, great mother-in-law, and wonderful friends." She recalls, "at some point every semester, my friend Amber Foltz, would tell me to take a deep breath and do one thing at a time."

Emily shared that she is a second generation graduate of LFCC. Her late mother also graduated with an Associate Degree in Arts and Sciences. Many people wish Emily well in her future endeavors, all hoping that her chosen course of study in genetic research, will assist in the battle against cancer.
