WARRENTON, Va. - What are your rights when it comes to your personal information online? What constitutes free speech on social networking sites? In order to answer these questions, Lord Fairfax Community College (LFCC) will host a seminar titled "Campus Computing" on Sept. 16, 2008. Presented by C.L. Lindsay III, a nationally recognized expert and leader in the field of student rights, the seminar is free and open to the public. The seminar will take place in the Rose Loeb Student Center from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Fauquier Campus, located at 6480 College St. in Warrenton.

In today's society - where students are often accused of online harassment, electronic stalking, copyright infringement and software piracy - it is important for students and individuals to understand their rights in cyberspace. Lindsay, an attorney and founder of the Coalition for Student and Academic Rights (CO-STAR), will teach attendees about their rights, how the laws operate and what potential liabilities exist online. Attendees will also learn how to protect themselves online, both legally and personally.

CO-STAR is a national student rights organization that helps thousands of college students with their legal problems, free-of-charge, each year. In addition to his work with CO-STAR, Lindsay authored the book "The College Student's Guide to the Law: Get a Grade Changed, Keep Your Stuff Private, Throw a Police-Free Party, and More!," which was published by Taylor Trade Publishing in 2005.
