Lord Fairfax Community College Board Elects New Officers
News Release
For Immediate Release:
July 11, 2008
Lee, a Clarke County resident, has served on the College Board since 2002. Her association with the College extends back to her father's (J.J. Pickeral) service on the original steering committee that founded LFCC. Now personally involved, Lee not only serves on the Board but is also a donor to the LFCC Educational Foundation Inc. and a member of the LFCC Educational Foundation Board. With her children, she established the Timothy R. Lee Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Scholarship in memory of Timothy Lee, her husband and their father.
Lee retired from the Clarke County Public Schools as an elementary school teacher in June 2004. Her teaching career spanned 38 years, with the last 35 years spent at D.G. Cooley Elementary School in Berryville. After retiring, Lee worked as a substitute teacher in Clarke and Loudoun counties for three years. Since August 2007, she has served as the administrator of the Wee Angels Weekday Programs at Duncan Memorial Methodist Church in Berryville.
Vance, a Warren County resident, has served on the College Board since December 2006. Vance owns and operates a small retail nursery. He grows most of what he sells, and he specializes in vegetable plants.
Vance became involved with LFCC in the early 90s, when he enrolled in a number of horticulture classes. He has been a strong supporter of the College since then. Additional community involvement includes his service as a member of the Warren County Board of Supervisors for six years.
