Making a Difference – National Philanthropy Day
Written on: Nov. 3, 2008
Over the past six months, a lot has changed for many Americans. Due to the weakened economy, many people have less monetary resources available to support themselves, their families and their dreams. It is during this time that community-based organizations are in need of financial support so that they can assist those in need.
As National Philanthropy Day takes place on Nov. 15, the Lord Fairfax Community College (LFCC) Educational Foundation Inc. seeks to recognize the impact that donors are making in the community with their support of area charitable organizations, including the LFCC Educational Foundation Inc.
At LFCC, many students are facing tough decisions about their future, including whether or not they will be able to continue their education because of their financial limitations. Recently, a student e-mailed her professor and said that she would not be in class that day, because she did not have money for gas and was unable to drive to school.
Fortunately, LFCC students do not have to face the future alone. Thanks to the generosity of donors who give to the LFCC Educational Foundation Inc., many LFCC students are able to continue their education and make a better life for themselves and their families.
To everyone who contributes to the LFCC Educational Foundation Inc. or any other nonprofit organization in the area, thank you for making a difference!
