School Violence

EAP Can Help Employees Cope With Recent School Violence

Recent violent events in schools across the country may have parents feeling uneasy about the safety of their children and feeling uncertain about how to discuss these events with their children. Experts caution that two or three incidents, as horrific as they may be, do not constitute a trend that schools are becoming more dangerous. They point to research that indicates that violence in schools has been declining for over 10 years and schools are still the safest place for a child to be.

If you have issues or questions, attached are an article and tip sheet from the COVA Care Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that can help parents talk to their children. Information is also posted on the front page of the Achieve Solutions Web site. Employees may also call ValueOptions to talk about these concerns at 1-866-725-0602. COVA HDHP members may call the Anthem EAP at 1-800-346-5484.
