LFCC SCIENCE AND HEALTH PROFESSIONS BUILDING FACT SHEET
Facility Overview and Purpose
This 46,870-gross-square-foot two-story building provides additional classroom space for the ever increasing science and health professions courses offered at the College.
The Science and Health Professions Building includes:
- 2 nursing demonstration labs
- 1 surgical technology/emergency medical technology lab
- 1 physics lab
- 1 chemistry/organic chemistry lab
- 1 general science/geology lab
- 1 natural resources lab
- 1 biology/microbiology lab
- 1 biology/physiology lab
- 1 physiology/anatomy lab
- 1 distance learning lab
- 1 large lecture hall (90 seats)
- 2 lecture halls that are expandable (60 seats each)
- 1 lecture hall (48 seats)
- 2 smaller lecture rooms (30 seats)
This facility helps meet the needs of the students in the College's service region, providing them with state-of-the-art laboratories for scientific and health study.
The new building supports the following Lord Fairfax Community College strategic plan:

Disciplines to be Housed
The majority of the Division of Science and Health Professions will be housed in the new facility. The disciplines include:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Emergency Medical Technology
- Geology
- Natural Resources
- Nursing
- Physics
- Surgical Technology
Funding Information
- The total cost of construction for the Science and Health Professions Building is approximately $9.7 million, which is within the budgeted amount for the project.
Funding for the Science and Health Professions Building came from the Virginia College Building Authority, the College's localities and LFCC.
