Foundation Artwork Sale

The LFCC Educational Foundation is selling artwork by the late Shenandoah Valley artist Dolores E. Sekel and an anonymous artist. The works are being sold for $100 each, with 100 percent of the proceeds helping to establish a scholarship fund for LFCC art students.

Sekel, a native of Germany, was a resident of Strasburg, Virginia, and was a member of the Shenandoah County Arts Council until her death in 2002. When she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, Sekel began taking art classes at Lord Fairfax Community College, which she thought would be therapeutic for her condition. It was there that Sekel realized that she had a talent, and her hobby turned into a career. Sekel created realistic renderings in a variety of mediums, including oil, watercolor, charcoal and pastel.
