The TRIO Student Support Services Program is an opportunity for students to receive personal and academic support that will promote success in their pursuit of higher education. Individual student support is offered in the areas of:
- Counseling and Advising
- Peer Mentoring and Tutoring
- Study Skills
- Transfer Assistance
- Cultural/Social Activities
- Disability Services
- Computer Training
Who is Eligible for TRIO?
Any student of Lord Fairfax Community College may apply for services through the TRIO Program by visiting the office in room 319, calling 540-868-7085, or printing and completing the electronic application below. An applicant is determined eligible if he or she demonstrates an academic need and meets one or more of the following criteria:
- First Generation – A student qualifies as “first generation” if neither parent graduated from a four-year institution.
- Low Income – A student qualifies as “low income” if he or she receives a Pell grant from financial aid or meets specific federal low-income guidelines.
- Disability – A student who has a physical, mental, or learning disability and requires academic assistance qualifies under this criteria.
